Ramadan: LG boss harps on observation of pillars of Islam

Mr Wasiu Adesina, Chairman, Ikorodu Local Government Area of Lagos State, has urged Muslims to seek forgiveness and observe the five pillars of Islam as they conclude Ramadan.

Adesina gave the advice during the fourth edition of an annual Ramadan lecture organised by the IRADAT Family, Ikorodu, at the local government secretariat.

The lecture had the theme: “The Significance of Five Pillars of Islam”.

According to the chairman, observing the five pillars of Islam and listening to sermons will  building  attitude that will promote  peace and harmony.

“This is the fourth edition of the Ramadan lecture in Ikorodu Local Government, we give all glory to Almighty Allah.

“This is a platform where sermons and teachings of Islam will be spread among the people of Ikorodu.

“It is also designed to teach people the five pillars of Islam so that they can learn more from the Holy Quran,” he said.

The chairman advised Muslims to emulate Prophet Muhammad and maintain holiness in accordance with the tenets of Ramadan.

He also urged Muslims to give Zakat (alms) to the needy.

He urged them to pray for progress, peace and unity of the country, adding that they should pray for the President-elect, Sen. Bola Tinubu, and Lagos State Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for successful administrations.

The guest lecturer, Dr Shakirudeen Abdul Rasak, who is the Founder and Missioner, IRADAT Centre of Nigeria, urged Muslims to obey all instructions of Allah and promote peace.

He said that Muslims should do things with the fear of God and continue to pray for a better Nigeria.

“People should have the fear of God in their dealings,” he said.

Earlier, Mr Babatunde Rotinwa, a former Head of Service, Lagos State, called on Muslims  to be humble.

Alhaja Taofikat Allynson, the Iyaloja of Ikorodu, called for love among Nigerians, urging Muslims to obey the teachings of Ramadan.
