In 2022, Queen Elizabeth II is estimated to be personally worth £365 million.
According to the Sunday Times Rich List, this figure is up £15 million from her 2020 earnings and includes the Sovereign Grant and her personal income.
This wealth comes from inherited family wealth and property, such as the Balmoral and Sandringham estates, as well as shares and other financial investments, on which she pays tax.
The Queen also has income through properties such as Sandringham and Balmoral, which she owns personally. Some Royal Family members also have private art, jewellery and stamp collections.
Buckingham Palace confirmed on Wednesday in its annual financial report that the Sovereign Grant – the public purse which covers the cost of items from royal staff salaries to travel as well as the refurbishment of Buckingham Palace – will remain fixed next year at its current level of £86.3m.
This is despite profits at the Crown Estate – the £16.5bn royal property fund whose revenues are used to calculate the grant – falling significantly.
