prostitutionFOR close to one hour, there was pandemonium in Akure, the Ondo State capital on Saturday as some prostitutes beat and injured security personnel attached to the State Environmental Task Force.

It was during the monthly environmental sanitation and venue of the drama was Inner Circle Hotel, Oke-Padi, off Lao Street.

The security men were beaten to the extent that their uniforms were torn to shreds. Some of them who were bleeding were rushed to a nearby hospital.

Clients of the prostitutes joined them to beat the security agents.

When the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Sola Ebiseeni was informed, he mobilised other security agents and stormed the venue.

The commissioner sealed the hotel and ordered the arrest of prostitutes and their clients.

One of the eye witnesses said the security agents were part of the Task Force to ensure compliance with the 7am to 10am enforcement of environmental sanitation and when they got to the hotel around 8am, they met the prostitutes and their clients drinking and partying.

The security agents wanted to arrest them and then, the free-for-all started. It was during this period that the security agents were overpowered.

One of them, who escaped, called Ebiseeni on his mobile phone.

An angry Ebiseeni said the offenders would be prosecuted.
