Profit taking: NSE moves 590.79m shares worth N4.13bn

Investors on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Wednesday staked N4.13 billion on 590.79 million shares in 3,863 deals.

The volume of shares traded increased by 161.19 per cent over the 226.19 million shares valued at N2.74 billion traded in 4,182 deals on Tuesday.

The UBA emerged the most active, exchanging 144.80 million shares worth N750.45 million.

MultiVerse came second with 129.83 million shares valued at N64.92 million, while Cornerstone Insurance sold 103.10 million shares worth N51.55 million.

IPWA traded 54.55 million shares valued at N27.28 million.

The All-Share Index, however, lost 29.83 points or 0.09 per cent to close at 33,462.34 from the 33,492.17 achieved on Tuesday.

Also, the market capitalisation dropped by N10 billion or 0.09 per cent to close at N11.422 trillion against N11. 492.17 posted on Tuesday.

Betaglass led the price losers, depreciating by N2.10 to close at N39.90 per share.

Stanbic IBTC trailed with a loss of N1 to close at N27, while Zenith Bank dropped 64k to close at N19.20 per share.

GTBank and Lafarge Africa dropped 44k and 40k respectively to N26.50 and N99.10 per share each.

On the other hand, Forte Oil led the price gainers with N14.63 to close at N173.23 per share.

PZ Industries followed with a gain of N1.53 to close at N32.19, while Nestle garnered N1 to close at N856 per share.

Nigerian Breweries gained 90k to close at N147.90, while Glaxosmithkline appreciated by 88k to close at N44.99 per share.
