Oyo State police command has deployed hundreds of detectives to Awe, Afijio Local Government and its environs to rescue popular industrialist, Chief Festus Adebowale Omotoso, who was abducted in his house on Wednesday.
Police commands in neighbouring states have also been alerted to spread their dragnets “to ensure that the kidnappers don’t go far before settling down to demand for ransom”.
A top police chief, who revealed this on Saturday, said the popular belief in Oyo State is that the kidnappers are still around Awe “but we don’t want to take chances. That is why we have contacted neighbouring states”.
Omotoso is the Chairman of Bond Chemicals Limited. He was abducted while having a meeting with some leaders in his house.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunle Ajisebutu, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), said: “We have spread our dragnet to ensure we get the abductors. The Oyo State police command is working round the clock ‎and soon, we shall get them. We are going to make sure that their victim is rescued alive”.
