The Kebbi State Police Command has commenced investigations into the killing of a housewife and four girls in Bayan Kara Area of Birnin Kebbi Local Government.
Commissioner of Police, Mr Yakubu Jibrin, said in Birnin Kebbi on Monday that those killed were the housewife, Amina Maibulawus, three-year-old twins, and two girls aged 12 and 19.
The commissioner described the incident as “barbaric and inhuman” and vowed that the police would track down and arrest the killers.

He explained that the incident took place when the husband of the woman, Alhaji Ibrahim Maibulawus, was away on a business trip.

According to him, the two teenage girls were in the house to keep the woman company, pending the return of her husband.

“Nafisa, 19 and Aisha, 12, decided to sleep in the neighbour’s house pending the return of her husband but were cut to pieces in the process.

“The deceased housewife, Amina Maibulawus, was a nursing mother of a three-month-old baby but who was spared by the killers,” the commissioner said.

The police boss said all the deceased were butchered with either knives or cutlasses by unknown criminals.

He said detectives had interviewed neighbours on the murder and appealed to the general public to provide more information on the incident.

Jibrin advised the residents to remain vigilant to happenings in their neighbourhood.

Meanwhile, Governor Atiku Bagudu has visited the scene of the murder and condoled the families of the deceased and residents of the area.

He described the murder as unfortunate, inhuman and un-Godly.

The governor prayed to God for the repose of the soul of the deceased and the family the courage to bear the loss.

Bagudu appealed to members of the public to report suspicious movements and persons to security agencies, especially suspects of the gruesome murder.
