The Zone 2 Police Command in Onikan, Lagos has detained two members of a “One Chance” robbery syndicate, Igwe Obi, 44, and Solomon Adebayo, 33, who operates along Bonny Camp/Ajah route of Lagos.

The Zonal Public Relations Officer, SP. Umma Ayuba, confirmed this in a statement on Friday in Lagos.

She said that the suspects are always posed as driver and conductor to rob their victims.

Ayuba said that the suspects were apprehended based on intelligence gathered by AIG Adegoke Fayoade, in charge of the Zone.

“A team of operatives attached to the Zonal Oracle Section were deployed to discreetly investigate and apprehend the suspected robbers.

“They were apprehended at Ijora Badia Bridge and upon questioning, confessed to being involved in several ‘one chance’ robbery operations along Ajah axis.

“They specialise in robbing unsuspecting passengers of their mobile phones, money and other valuables while disguising as driver and conductor.

“The suspects further confessed to having been involved in the crime for over a period of two years and had been operating commercial buses along Bonny Cantonment/Ajah Axis, ” she said.

The spokesperson said that the suspects stated that the mobile phones stolen from their victims were later taken to Ajegunle Area of Lagos where they were sold to receivers.

According to her, investigation is ongoing and all efforts intensified to arrest other members of the syndicate.

The image maker said that the suspects would be charged to court upon completion of investigation.

She advised members of the public to be more vigilant and remain calm as the zone is working assiduously to ensure a seamless yuletide.
