The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has congratulated Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Adegoke Fayoade, and Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Ronke Okunade, on their successful and fulfilling careers.

In his goodwill message at the pull-out ceremony organised in honour of the two senior officers at the Police College Ikeja, on Thursday, the Inspector-General (I-G) of Police, Mr Tunji Disu, congratulated them on their meritorious service to the nation.

Disu, represented by the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Research and Planning, Abuja, Mr Ibrahim Babazango, said their dedication and contributions to policing were deeply appreciated.

“On behalf of the entire Nigeria Police Force (NPF), we celebrate our distinguished officers, Fayoade and Okunade, and congratulate them on their successful and fulfilling careers.

“I wish them peace, good health and happiness as they begin a new chapter of life. Their service to the nation is deeply appreciated, and their contributions to the growth and development of the NPF will remain cherished,” he said.

Disu commended the retiring officers for their commitment, professionalism, discipline and sacrifices, noting that their careers reflected years of dedication to protecting lives and property, maintaining law and order and serving the Nigerian people.

Speaking on behalf of both retiring officers, Fayoade expressed gratitude to God, colleagues and family members for their support throughout their careers in the NPF.

He described their retirement as an opportunity to reflect on a journey marked by sacrifice, discipline, professional growth, friendship and service to humanity.

The retired DIG said policing demanded sacrifice, courage, commitment and dedication to protecting lives and serving the public.

He noted that effective policing required not only the commitment of officers but also public trust, institutional integrity, accountability and cooperation with other stakeholders.

Fayoade described Okunade as a woman of integrity and professionalism, noting that their longstanding friendship, which began as neighbours, had grown through shared experiences and mutual support over the years.

He also commended her for balancing the demands of police service with her responsibilities as a wife and mother, describing her as an officer of impeccable character.

The retired DIG expressed appreciation to the I-G, the Police Service Commission, past and present police leadership, colleagues and other stakeholders for their support throughout their career.

He particularly acknowledged the contributions of officers who worked with them in different commands and formations, saying their cooperation helped them achieve the objectives of their various assignments.

Fayoade also remembered colleagues who died during the course of their careers, praying for the peaceful repose of their souls.

He expressed appreciation to the governments and institutions that gave him opportunities to serve, particularly former Osun State Governor, Chief Bisi Akande, under whom he served as aide-de-camp between 1999 and 2003.

He further thanked their families for their patience, understanding and sacrifices, noting that they had remained a strong source of support throughout their demanding careers.

The retired DIG urged serving police officers to remain committed to professionalism, discipline and the protection of lives and property, stressing that the quality of service rendered and the positive impact made on society ultimately defined a police officer’s legacy.

Fayoade and Okunade were members of Cadet ASP Course 17/1992 and served in the NPF for 34 years and six months and 34 years, respectively.
