Platini will not attend FIFA Ethics Committee hearing

Lawyers to the suspended European soccer chief, Michel Platini, said he would not attend Friday’s FIFA Ethics Committee hearing.
They said on Wednesday in Paris that the decision was in protest against what he condemned as political process, designed to prevent him running to lead FIFA, the football world governing body.
“Michel Platini has decided not to attend his hearing at the FIFA ethics committee on December 18, 2015 as its verdict has been announced in the press last weekend by one of its spokespersons, Mr Andreas Bantel.
“This is in disregard of all fundamental rights, starting with the presumption of innocence”, the lawyers said.
Platini was provisionally suspended for 90 days on October 8, alongside outgoing FIFA president Sepp Blatter, over a suspicious payment from FIFA to Platini, deepening a corruption scandal that has engulfed FIFA.
