Mercurial midfielder Rabiu Ali took the game beyond their opponents with the third goal in the 83rd minute.

“It was a good game for us, we got what we deserved and I thank God we won the game. I am happy to have contributed to the victory with a goal and good game,” Ali said.

He has now scored eight goals in the league.

Bayelsa United closed the gap on the leaders with a 4-1 win over Akwa United.

Jafar Buhari scored a brace, while Gingo and Diri Otimoti scored a goal apiece.

Uche Ihuaralum, who gave assists for three of the four goals, stated that it was God who crowned their efforts.
