Globacom Premier League champions, Kano Pillars, Wednesday consolidated their leadership of the table with a 3-0 thrashing of ABS FC in Kano.
Pillars now have 42 points from 24 matches.
Manir Ubale gave Pillars the lead in 17th minute, before Buhari Musa made it 2-0 in the 58th minute.
Mercurial midfielder Rabiu Ali took the game beyond their opponents with the third goal in the 83rd minute.
Ali stated that he is excited with the victory and his goal.
“It was a good game for us, we got what we deserved and I thank God we won the game. I am happy to have contributed to the victory with a goal and good game,” Ali said.
He has now scored eight goals in the league.
Bayelsa United closed the gap on the leaders with a 4-1 win over Akwa United.
Bayelsa United have 42 points, same as leaders Pillars.
Jafar Buhari scored a brace, while Gingo and Diri Otimoti scored a goal apiece.
Uche Ihuaralum, who gave assists for three of the four goals, stated that it was God who crowned their efforts.
“I feel very great and I give all glory to God for the victory. Though I didn’t score, I gave assists for three of the goals. We will keep mounting pressure on Pillars at the top,” Ihuarulam said.
