pdp_logo2The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said it would always follow path of justice in order to take the country to greater heights to compete favourably in the comity of nations.

The National Chairman of the party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, made the pledge in Abuja on Monday while swearing in members of its Interim National Working Committee (NWC)

According to him, the PDP believes in equity and justice.

He explained that the swearing in followed the resignation of the former members of the NCW.

“The former national officers had to leave their respective offices because of INEC’s observation about irregularities that characterised the National Convention held in March 2012.

“We decided to replace members of NWC who resigned their respective positions immediately in order not to allow a vacuum.

“This is the usual practice in the party since it came into existence as a political party in Nigeria.

“They are here to move the party forward and to ensure that things are done the way they should be done.

“They also promised to abide strictly by the party’s Constitution and the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended),” Tukur said.

Tukur said PDP had been a responsive and responsible party that always insisted on good governance, adding that the party vowed not to involve itself in anything illegal.

He stressed that the party was acting strictly on the mandate given to it by the people.

The chairman held that the party was waxing stronger and urged members to continue to be loyal.

He appealed to Nigerians to have confidence in the party and the ability of its leadership to provide good governance.

Deputy National Chairman, Chibudom Nwuche, National Secretary, Dr Remi Akintoye, Deputy National Secretary, Sen. Emma Agboti, National Organising Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Abubakar among others, took oath in acting capacities.
