pdp_logo2The National Working Committee (NEC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has approved Aug. 22 for the 62nd Emergency Meeting of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).

This is contained in a memo signed by Mr Charles Akitoye, the Acting National Secretary of the party in Abuja on Tuesday.

The PDP NEC is the second highest body of the party.

Issues relating to the party`s forthcoming Special National Convention and South-West congress slated for Aug. 31, and Aug. 24, and other pressing party issues are expected to be discussed at the meeting.

According to a source at the party’s national headquarters, the NEC meeting will also discuss some pending litigations against the party.

It would be recalled that Chief Olagunsoye Oyinlola, the party`s formal National Secretary, was contesting his removal from office in an Oshogbo High Court.

The court had declared that the office of Oyinlola was not vacant even though he was removed by an earlier court.

The nomination of Oyinlola’s replacement, however, is one of the main issues planned for the forthcoming South-West congress.

The last PDP NEC meeting was held on June 20.
