The Tanimu Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has hailed the safe return of the students and teachers who were kidnapped in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State on may 15.

The National Publicity Secretary of the Interim National Working Committee, Ini Ememobong, gave the commendation in a statement in Abuja on Friday.

The Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, had, on Friday, confirmed the rescue of the students and teachers in a post on his X account.

Ememobong commended the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies and others who were connected with the safe return of the victims.

“Although details of the rescue remain limited, we commend the Federal Government, Oyo State Government, security agencies and all individuals and organisations whose efforts contributed to the safe return of the victims.

“No one should be subjected to such trauma in the pursuit of education,” he said.

Ememobong called on the federal government to take decisive steps to prevent a recurrence of such heinous acts.

He noted that the protection of lives and property remained the first responsibility of government.
