PDP: Fayemi’s comments on new Government House, ploy to mislead EFCC

Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has described the statement by the former governor of the state, Dr Kayode Fayemi, on the new Government House as a ploy to mislead the Economic and Financial Crime Commission in its investigation on the regime of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr Jackson Adebayo, in Ado Ekiti on Sunday, PDP said that the former governor was only trying to prempt the anti- graft agency over the searchlight beemed on his mismanagement of the allocations to the state and bogus loans he obtained to build the edifice.
Adebayo stressed that the former governor is being jittery about the ongoing investigation by various security agencies on his alleged financial recklessness when he was in the saddle of the government of Ekiti State.
“Why is he coming out after almost a year he was disgracefully voted out of government by the Ekiti people when he know fully well that some security agencies are after him if not because he wants to mislead and coerce them to believe that he was prudent to a fault thereby investigations on his administration could be relaxed?”
According to the PDP spokesman, the former governor could have saved himself from the controversy by keeping silent until the investigations are completed and wait for EFCC’s response before defending his government “before the people who he openly dragged back by hundreds mile in good governance and prudential management of public funds”.
The party insisted that the APC leaderships have been unrelenting in moves to shield Fayemi from EFCC prosecution since the advent of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration, saying that the step taken so far has not stopped the investigations being carried out on his administration.
“We still insist that the leaderships of the APC are hell-bent in protecting Dr Kayode Fayemi from the searchlight of the EFCC and other investigations from various security agencies because they know that he ran Ekiti government aground before he was booted out by the popular vote which has been judged to be the most peaceful, freest and fairest in the recent time of our growing democracy.”
