The Lagos State Chapter of the PDP on Friday commenced its “unity consolidation tour“ of all the local government councils of the state.
The tour is coming on the heels of the party’s celebration of the reconciliation of its key leaders in Lagos.
The tour, according to the PDP State Chairman, Chief Tunji Shelle, is to let all members know that the party is now `indivisible` and the need for all to work together in the party’s interest.
Addressing party faithful in Eti-Osa Local Government, Shelle said that the leaders of the party in the state were harmonising all interests following the reconciliation.
“We are more united now and nothing is stopping us again come next elections,’’ he said.
He urged the members to emulate the leaders and remain steadfast.
The state chairman reminded the members that the stage was now open for aspirants willing to contest any position to send their letters of intention.
“Members interested in political offices should therefore make formal applications to the State Secretariat and we assure you that all forms will be treated the same way,’’ Shelle said.
He also appealed to the members to contribute their quota by giving more support to the Federal Government.
“Government is a collective effort. We must all support the Federal Government to continue with the good works it’s doing for Nigeria,’’ he added.
Also speaking, a chieftain of the party from Eti-Osa, Alhaji Segun Otebata, decried the on-going Eko Atlantic Project, saying that it was a waste of public fund.
“This project will be robbing the poor to satisfy the rich and will affect many Nigerians resident in Eti-Osa especially the indigenes,’’ he said.
Otebata also commended President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration for approving the Lekki Deep Sea Port in the area.
