pdp_logo2Some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kwara State have expressed disappointment over the decision of the party’s national leadership to choose non-Kwarans as leaders of the caretaker committee inaugurated for the North-Central state.

Sources within the party, who spoke with newsmen, said they could only interprete the choice of non-Kwarans as chairman and secretary of the committe as an indication that the national leadership may not have confidence in the Kwarans they have expected to be chosen for the posts.

Although they asked not to be identified in the media given the precarious situation of the party in the state now, they said their expectation was that people like Kunle Sulyman, a lawyer,  and Alhaji Folorunsho Ayinla, who have been at the forefront of the struggle to reposition the party, would have been chosen for the posts.

Although they insisted that they could not work with the all Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, the aggrieved members hinted that they may review their continued stay in the party if the national leadership of the party continues to treat people they consider their leaders in the state in such manner.

One of the aggrieved members said: “The composition of the caretaker committee shows that the national leadership of PDP does not have confidence in the ability of those parading themselves as leaders of the party in the state.

“We are not happy at the development; it is a slap on our faces particularly our leaders that are claiming to be on ground. The problem now is how will those non-indigenes understand Kwara politics because our politics here in Kwara is different from any other states?

“This is not our expectation at this critical period, all we need are indigenes with credibility”.
