The National leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has assured aspirants for the Ekiti state Governorship election slated for 2014, of a level playing ground.
The assurance was given to the aspirants by the party`s National Secretary, Prof. Wale Oladipo, when they paid a solidarity visit to the party leadership on Tuesday in Abuja.
Prof. Oladipo told newsmen after the meeting with the aspirants that the party used the opportunity of the visit to address grey areas in the state’s party administration.
“We used the opportunity to listen to them on issues in the state and asked them to prepare for the 2014 governorship election in the state.
“We have assured them that there would be a level playing ground.
”Mr President has not adopted and will not adopt anybody as a preferred candidate of PDP in Ekiti.’’ he said.
He added that the party`s NWC would not adopt anybody as a candidate, stressing that due process would be followed in the primary election.
Oladipo maintained that the consensus committee in the state ahead of the election was illegal and its activities should be stopped.
“It is the duty of the party`s national headquarters to conduct primaries and the list of voters will come from the party national leadership.’’ Oladipo said.
