Governor Biodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State has appointed Justice Lekan Ogunmoye as Acting Chief Judge of the State.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Special Adviser to the governor on Media and Strategy, Mr Yinka Oyebode, on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti.

Oyebode said that the appointment was in furtherance of the powers conferred on the governor by Section 271 (4) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

According to him, the appointment of Ogunmoye takes effect from November 5.

He said the new Justice replaced the former Chief Judge, Justice John Adeyeye, who died on Monday, November 4, after a brief illness.

Born on November 6, 1963, Ogunmoye was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987, and was appointed a judge on April 1, 2010.

Oyebanji wished the Acting Chief Judge a successful tenure.
