Situation After the Attacks

Benue state continues to sink deeper into trouble and by the look of things, it seems the state Governor, Reverend Alia has no answer for the continued insecurity in the state.

Gradually, as Benue sinks deeper into insecurity it is checking all boxes for the declaration of a State of Emergency Rule as armed militia and herdsmen move towards taking over the state capital. In past 3 months over 1,500 people have being killed and uncountable number displaced.
The State Government seems totally unprepared to arrest the situation.

On the night of Friday, 13 June, 2025, armed militia men attacked Yelewata, and Daudu communities in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.

About 200 persons, including Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, and five soldiers were feared dead in the attack. Some victims were burnt beyond recognition in their houses.

In addition, two soldiers, civil defence officers and two policemen were abducted.

Residents of the state continue to live in fear as armed militia are almost taking over the state.

Gradually, the militia are moving towards taking over the state capital and residents have come to the conclusion that Reverend Alia is incapable of securing the state anymore.

Some residents of the state are even calling for the intervention of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Many are even calling for the imposition of Emergency Rule in the state if it will bring peace to the state
