Security agencies have increased patrols and surveillance across Ile-Ife and other parts of Osun State ahead of Saturday’s governorship election.

The heightened security operations are aimed at ensuring a peaceful electoral process, protecting residents and safeguarding election materials before, during and after voting.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) observed increased deployment of security personnel across major areas of Ile-Ife on Friday as preparations for the election continued.

Security Presence Expanded Across Ile-Ife

Security officers were seen along major roads and strategic locations within the ancient city, while residents continued their normal activities without any major disruption.

Areas with noticeable security presence included Oduduwa University, Ipetumodu, Mayfair, Lagere and Garage-Ilesa, among other locations.

The expanded deployment is part of measures to prevent violence, electoral offences and other criminal activities during the election period.

Security Agencies Coordinate Election Operations

Personnel from the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Police Force and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) were deployed to monitor activities and maintain public safety.

The agencies are expected to provide security coverage across polling areas and respond to any situation that could affect the smooth conduct of the election.

Authorities have continued to emphasise the need for voters and political actors to maintain peace throughout the electoral process.

Residents Urged to Vote Peacefully

The Osun governorship election is scheduled for Saturday, August 15, with security agencies expected to maintain law and order before, during and after voting.

Residents of Ile-Ife and other parts of the state have been encouraged to exercise their civic rights peacefully and avoid actions capable of disrupting the election.

Security authorities urged citizens to cooperate with personnel deployed for election duties to ensure a safe and credible electoral process.
