Nigerian Afrobeats star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has advised election officials to consider using the front-facing camera on the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) when the device’s other camera encounters problems.
Davido made the suggestion in a post on his X account on Saturday as voting continued in the Osun State governorship election.
Davido Offers BVAS Suggestion
The singer urged officials to switch to the front camera if the primary camera on a BVAS device was not functioning.
“If your BVAS camera is not working, please tell the officials to use front camera. It is very active and fast!” he posted.
His comment came amid reports of technical difficulties involving BVAS devices at some polling locations during the election.
BVAS Used for Voter Accreditation
The BVAS is deployed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as part of its voter accreditation process.
The system uses biometric information, including fingerprint and facial authentication, to help verify registered voters before they cast their ballots.
BVAS also performs other functions related to the electoral process, making the availability and proper functioning of the devices important during voting.
Davido Continues to Comment on Osun Election
The singer has recently made several public comments concerning the Osun governorship election.
Before election day, Davido called on Nigerian authorities and the international community to pay close attention to the conduct of the poll.
His latest intervention focused specifically on the technical challenges reportedly encountered with BVAS during voting.
The Osun governorship election is being closely monitored as voters across the state exercise their franchise and electoral officials conduct the accreditation and voting processes.
