Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and Fela Durotoye, the presidential candidate of the Alliance for New Nigeria (ANN), both residents of Victoria Garden City(VGC), Lagos, on Saturday, voted at same polling unit–Code 33, Unit 2 in the estate.

Osinbajo, who arrived at the unit at 10:28 a.m, voted at 10:53 a.m. while Durotoye voted at 12: 11 p.m.

Mr Adetokunbo Ladega, Chairman, VGC, Property Owners and Residents Association, said that he was excited having two key players in the presidential contest living in the community.

According to him, it is a rare feat which makes him feel VGC is the right place to live in.

He said that VGC was a very large community which had two main polling units.

“We are a very large community, with a little over 5000 registered voters.

“So, we know from previous experience that there is always a need to put in place effective crowd management,” he said.

Osinbajo, after casting his vote, said: “I think it is deeply satisfying. Of course, there are home owners, there are those who are renting, there are staff and security but everybody has the right to vote.

“The vote of the vice president is not in anyway more important than the vote of the security man watching over us here, that is the beauty of democracy,” Osinbajo said.

The vice president enjoined Nigerians to come out enmasse
to exercise their civic responsibilities.

He said: “My message to Nigerians is that they should not just come out and vote but also encourage others to do so.”
