Nigerian-born British runner, Andrew Osagie, was second behind Olympic champion, David Rudisha, in the 800 metres in one of the British highlights at the Diamond League meeting in New York.
The Craig Winrow-trained athlete, who won bronze at the World Indoor Championships last year in Istanbul, produced a highly-impressive run, holding off the likes of Olympic bronze medallist Timothy Kitum in one minute 46.44 seconds.
Rudisha was a clear winner in 1min 45.14seconds.
Shara Proctor was second in the long jump with a leap of 6.72m, 0.07m behind winner Jenay Deloach Soukup, the 2012 Olympic bronze medallist, who set a meet record.
It was an improvement on the Briton’s outing in Doha where she finished sixth.
Christine Ohuruogu was seventh in the 400m in 52.08 with Shana Cox, a member of the victorious European indoor 4x400m relay, second in the B race in 52.01.
Amantle Montsho, fourth in London last year, claimed another Diamond League victory with a meet record of 49.91.
European Indoor pole vault champion Holly Bleasdale pulled out of the competition after the first round after clearing her opening height of 4.23m at the third attempt.
In difficult conditions, Olympic champion Jenn Suhr prevailed with 4.63.
Eilish McColgan was eighth in the 3000m steeplechase in 9:45.66 while Michael Bingham was fifth in the 400m (46.19).
Phillips Idowu did not appear in the triple jump that was won by Frenchman Benjamin Compaore ahead of world and Olympic champion Christian Taylor.
Olympic bronze medallist Tyson Gay won the men’s 100m in 10.02secs, Warren Weir – third in London – claimed the 200m (20.11), 2012 silver medallist Michael Tinsley won the 400m hurdles.
Seven-time Olympic medallist Veronica Campbell-Brown ran a season’s best 22.53 to win the 200m, Blanka Vlasic cleared 1.94 in the high jump and Olympic champion Sandra Perkovic throw a world-leading 68.48m in the discus, also a meet record.
