Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, has strongly condemned the recent kidnapping incident at the Vegetable Market area along Airport Road in Benin City, describing it as unacceptable and a direct attack on innocent residents.

The statement was issued on Monday in Benin by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Patrick Ebojele, and made available to journalists. The incident reportedly occurred on Sunday.

Governor Okpebholo directed the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, to immediately launch a coordinated and urgent investigation into the attack.

He tasked security agencies with ensuring the safe rescue of the abducted victims while also intensifying efforts to apprehend those responsible for the crime.

The governor reiterated that his administration would not tolerate any act capable of threatening public safety or disrupting peace in the state.

He urged residents across Edo State to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the nearest security agencies, noting that timely intelligence is crucial to ongoing security operations.

Okpebholo reaffirmed his government’s commitment to tackling insecurity, stressing that all perpetrators would be tracked down and brought to justice.
