World Champion sprinter Christine Ohuruogu has become a brand ambassador for Virgin Media.
The 29-year-old London-born athlete, who won gold in the 400 metres at the World Athletics Championships in Moscow earlier in August, will make regular appearance for the pay-TV operator and feature in forthcoming marketing campaigns. The deal is thought to be worth a six-figure sum.
Ohuruogu joins Usain Bolt and Mo Farah as a Virgin Media ambassador. All three runners are on the books of athlete representation company PACE Sports Management.
Ohuruogu, who has a degree in linguistics from University College London, said: “The crowd at London 2012 was really special and it was such an incredible feeling to race in front of so many passionate people. I hope the atmosphere and support in Glasgow in 2014 will be the same all over again. Working with Virgin Media, we want to get people from all over the Home Nations excited about another amazing sporting spectacular that’s right on our doorstep.”
Jeff Dodds, Virgin Media’s chief marketing officer, added: “Christine has consistently shown that the rest just can’t keep up with her incredible speed so what better ambassador for Virgin Media and our superfast broadband? She’s part of a stellar ‘Team Virgin Media’ and will be a great representative for us as we look ahead to Glasgow 2014.
