Sports stakeholders in Osun State have commended the state Governor Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, for appointing the former Secretary General of the Nigeria Football Federation, Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi as the new chairman of the state-owned professional football club, Prime FC.
The Chairman of the club supporters club, Jeleel Olatunde, said the appointment of Ogunjobi as the club boss by governor of the state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, is the best thing to happen to the club in recent time.
“As far as we are concerned, we are fully in support of Chief Ogunjobi, as the club boss, he is the best football administrator we have in the state and we appreciate Governor Aregbesola for appointing him and we hope by next season he will use his wealth of experience to turn the fortune of the club.”
“Those criticising his appointment I believe are being political and not thinking of the good things Ogunjobi would bring to the club.”
However, chief coach football in Osun State, Mudashir Yusuff, has described as unfortunate, statement credited to Gbenga Ololade-led Osun Sports Renaissance for faulting the appointment of Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, as Prime FC chairman.
Ololade, in a session of the media faulted Ogunjobi’s appointment who is also the chairman of Osun State Football Association, claiming Ogunjobi would compromise issues.
The pioneer tactician of defunct BCC Lions of Gboko, said Ololade and his cohorts have lost touch with modern trend of football administration citing instances that Chief Emeka Inyama, is the chairman of Nigeria National League and also the boss of Abia Warriors FC of Umuahia and also Pinnick Amaju, who is the Chairman Delta State Sports Commission, Chairman Delta State Football Association and Chairman of Warri Wolves FC.
He also noted that Nasarawa United boss, Barrister Isaac Danladi and Sunshine Stars chairman Mike Idoko, are both members of the League Management Committee (LMC) and they have not been compromising issues
Muda, former Golden Eaglets assistant coach, said Ololade is a sadist that does not see anything good in other people progress. He further stated that any good indigene of Osun who want progress will not criticise an astute administrator in Chief Ogunjobi.
The Chairman of Nigeria Football Coaches Association (Osun State Chapter), said the group are not indigenes of the state and cannot destabilize or bring Osun State football into disrepute.
“We know what their antecedents were and a sadist will not see anything good in what Ogunjobi has done. He has administered football at the top and has never compromised issues.”
