Ogunjobi: NFF want to witch-hunt me

The former Secretary Genaral of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Chief Taiwo Ogunjobi, has described the impending investigation against him by the NFF as an attempt to witch-hunt him ahead of next year’s elections.

On Monday, the NFF set-up an investigation panel headed by Chris Green to look into fraudulent allegations levelled against Ogunjobi by Nigeria’s youth international Kayode Olarenwaju.

Ogunjobi has however denied trying to swindle Kayode, stating that the allegations are part of a smear campaign to tarnish his image ahead of elections into the board of the NFF in 2014.

“This is strange, it is ridiculous, how and why will NFF investigate me?” the Prime FC boss queried.

“I am not a FIFA licensed agent, I am just an individual. This investigation smacks of witch-hunting, they are just chasing shadow. I want Nigerians to know that I am being persecuted because of the 2014 election into the NFF board, nothing more!”

Describing his relationship with Kayode, Ogunjobi described himself as a guardian, boasting that he has acted as a consensual guardian to many players in the past, and would not allow his name to be dragged to the mud.

“I am like a guardian to Kayode, I have been guardian to players like; John Obi Mikel, Edith Agoye, Duke Udi and even Ike Shorunmu.

“Whatever Mikel is today has my hand in it and I was not persecuted.

“In fact, the parents of the players willingly hand them over to me to guide them, I have never told anybody I am their manager.”
