Police operatives, on Friday, repelled an attack by gunmen on Ezeagu Police Divisional Headquarters, located in Aguobu-Owa community in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State.
During the fierce gun duel between the police operatives and the hoodlums, a police officer sustained bullet wound and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, who confirmed the incident in Enugu, said that the incident took place in the morning hours of Friday.
“Full scale investigation has commenced to fish out the yet-to-be identified hoodlums, who operating in a black-coloured Corolla car, attacked Ezeagu Police Divisional Headquarters.
”The hoodlums were gallantly resisted by police operatives on duty.
“However, a policeman, who sustained gunshot injury, was rushed to the hospital and he is responding to treatment,” he said.
There are feelers that the hoodlums, who are currently being trailed by the police, must had escaped with serious gunshot wounds.
