The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Wednesday in Abuja inaugurated caretaker committees for Borno, Kebbi and Ogun state chapters of the party.
The Borno Caretaker Committee is chaired by Abdulmalik Mahmud, Kebbi by Senator Abdulahi Wali and Ogun by Akinrogun Tunde Odanye.
PDP National Chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, assured that new members and defectors into the PDP would be accorded equal rights in the party.
Makarfi added that the window for reconciliation with aggrieved members would remain open as the party continue with reconciliation and reconstitution of its state chapters.
“Those who genuinely repent and give in to the party will be given equal chance in the party.
“ As we move we remain flexible and accommodating. We have not closed the door we will never close the door. We will create level playing field for everybody” he said.
The August 12 non-elective national convention of the party ratified the dissolution of executive committees of the party in Adamawa, Borno, Kebbi, Ogun, Kwara, Osun and Lagos and ordered fresh congresses in the affected states within three months.
He explained that the dissolution of the states executives was to ensure unity in the affected states.
He expressed optimism that the new caretaker committees would help to avoid mistake and court cases that arose from the past congresses, saying such will not happen again.
Makarfi stated that the party hard achieved successes in terms of the composition of the caretaker committee in some of the states, urging remaining states to harmonise their list on time.
Tunde responding at the inauguration commended the party leadership for given them the opportunity to serve.
He pledged that the committee would do justice to all party members in their states.
