Obasanjo represents failure, says Fayose

Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State has urged Nigerians to ignore former President Olusegun Obasanjo in deciding who they will vote for as the next president on March 28 “because he represents failure”.
The governor, who spoke through his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, said Obasanjo’s acclaimed support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate, Major-General Muhammadu Buhari, was not borne out of genuine love for the country.
He added that Obasanjo’s hard knocks on the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, President Goodluck Jonathan, was because of vendatta by Obasanjo.
He was reacting to the open support by Obasanjo for Buhari despite the former still claiming to be a member of the PDP.
“Leaving President Jonathan and voting for Buhari is like abandoning the road and entering the bush. God forbid that we derail as a nation. How can you follow somebody, who is being propelled by his followers to fly the plane at all cost when he doesn’t know how to fly? Won’t that plane crash? he asked.
The governor opined that Obasanjo represented failure, adding that the former president’s intention was to plunge the country into another round of political crisis.
The governor said only gullible minds would obey Obasanjo’s call that Buhari should be voted for‎, saying that Obasanjo should not be trusted for anything.
He further claimed that Obasanjo resorted to his current political ‘abracadabra’ because of his failure to secure life presidency through his failed third term agenda.
Fayose recalled that Obasanjo had been consistently defeated by the opposition parties in his own place before and after leaving office, asking, “what is the electoral value of a politician that could not secure votes in elections even in his own territory?”
He maintained that the former president was more of a liability than a gain in the ongoing political scenario.
He called on Nigerians to vote massively for Jonathan in the election.
