The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has announced the death of Mr Oreoluwa Adewole, a 400-level student in the College of Health Sciences.

This is contained in a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, on Thursday in Ile-Ife.

Olarewaju explained that the student complained of chest pain during the course of his examination and subsequently died despite prompt medical attention.

He said the tragic loss has thrown the university community into mourning.

“The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebayo Bamire, on behalf of the governing council, Senate, staff and the students, extended heartfelt condolences to the parents, siblings and the entire family of the deceased.

“He also commiserated with his friends, colleagues, and members of the College of Health Sciences over this painful and irreparable loss.

“The University authority is currently engaging relevant authorities and the family to provide necessary support and to further understand the circumstances surrounding this unfortunate incident.

“May the soul of the departed rest in perfect peace,” he stated.
