NPFL Week 9: Plateau United hold Rangers in Enugu

Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders Plateau United earned a point away from home as they held Rangers International Football Club of Enugu to a goaless draw in Enugu on Wednesday.
The week nine match was a ding dong affair as both teams struggled to assert themselves in the encounter.
Plateau United took hold of the match in the early stages, but Rangers gradually asserted themselves as the game progressed.
Both teams, however, missed clear scoring chances, with the home team finishing stronger but unable to find the net.
Plateau United coach, Abdullahi Maikaba expressed satisfaction with the outcome, but accused the centre referee of taking side and failing to protect his players.
” We targeted a win and my players worked hard for the draw, but the referee took side with the home team.
” The referee refused to protect my players against rough play from the home team players.
” Though, Rangers is a good team any day any time but just that they are undergoing their trial period at the moment.
”There is no team that does not have its trial period, others have their trial periods before now,  it can happen to any team, ” he said.
Maikaba said that his team will continue to grow from game to game and will not relax until the league is over.
” We are going to be taking the match one after the other and as it comes, so you cannot predict tomorrow, ” the United gaffer added.
Rangers have gone seven matches in all competitions without a win.
The Flying Antelopes now occupy 18th position on the league table with six points from seven matches.
