Defending Champions, Rangers International Football club of Enugu, on Wednesday, defeated Lobi Stars of Makurdi 3-0 in the Week 13 of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The match played inside the main bowl of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu saw the flying Antelopes start the match in a slow pace, allowing the visitors to dictate the pace.
The Coach Fidelis Illechukwu-tutored side, however, came into the game mid-first half and in the 27th minute, striker Frank Uwumiro put them ahead to ignite the stadium.
Rangers again made it 2-0 in the 32nd minute when Super Eagles home based invitee, Ambrose Igboke, took a shot from outside the 18-yard box to send the scanty crowd roaring.
Ifeanyi Onyebuchi scored through a goal mouth scramble in the 43th minute to end the first half 3-0.
On resumption of the second half, both teams struggled for dominance but none could outwit the other.
They made several changes during the half but none could change the goal line.
In a post-match interview, Rangers Technical Adviser, Fidelis Illechukwu, said the game was good and commended his players for the victory.
“The first half was okay; though they fell short in the second half, but it was a good game, Illechukwu said.
Lobi coach, Mika Longstone, said his side is a young team, and congratulated Rangers for “a well deserved victory”.
