The Deputy Speaker of Edo State of Assembly, Rt.Hon.(Mrs) Maria Edeko, on Thursday felicitated teachers in Edo state and Nigeria, on the occasion of Teachers’ Day celebration, saying that no nation can develop without teachers.

Edeko, in her goodwill message to mark the Day in Benin, said the world recognized the importance of teachers in shaping the future of any country hence the need for support from all stakeholders.

She noted that the Gov. Godwin Obaseki- led administration had prioritized education in the state with the introduction of technology to teach the children.

She further added that the government is making efforts to revamp the education sector by providing the necessary infrastructure and enhanced professional growth.

Edeko said these were designed to enable teachers to deliver quality education in the state.

“We recognize that teachers are the bedrock upon which the aspirations of future leaders are built, making their role indispensable to the progress of any society.

“Without teachers, some of us will not be where and what we are today and I pray that God will reward you and your families more and more,” she said.

According to her, no amount of commendation would actually be enough to pay for your immense sacrifice and contribution to the development of the nation.
