The Anambra State Football Association (ASFA) crisis appears to be far from been over as nine of its referees have been suspended by the Anambra State Referee Council (ARC).
Anthony Udennaka, Chairman of ARC said on Wednesday in Awka that four of the referees were suspended for 18 months.
He added that the other five, including a female, were suspended indefinitely.
Udennaka explained that the suspension was because of their roles in the yet-to-be-concluded state Federation Cup.
According to him, the suspended referees committed unmade misconduct that was in contravention of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) Statutes, 2004.
The referees are Dona Mbaezue, Ubendu John, Meyua C., Cordelia Akanna, Kenneth Aloka, Dennis Obaze, Fidelis Ejeagha, Joseph Isicheli and Jude Amaliwu.
“They are suspended from activities and should not be involved by any group in refereeing- related matters. Any of them holding any function in that capacity should handover to the next in hierarchy,” he said.
Udennaka, however, said their actions were unconnected with the crisis in the FA.
One of the referees, Mbaezue said he would not comment on the matter.
