Nigeria’s Osita Offor, aka “De Ultimate Commander’’ will be staking his Heavyweight belt on December 6, in a wrestling bout in Lagos.

Dubbed the “Night of Legends’’, the De Ultimate Commander, will be defending his World Heavyweight title against American, Bobby Lashley.

Addressing a news conference in Lagos, the promoter of the event, Arinze Aghaeliaku, said as part of side attraction, the event would feature two superstar musicians, Innocent Ujah Idibia, aka, Tuface Idibia and Megbele Omawunmi.

Both musicians would perform at intervals during the wrestling extravaganza, packaged under the Aghalieaku Entertainment in collaboration with popular showbiz impresario, Tee Mac Itseli.

Aghaeliaku said that apart from thrilling wrestling fans with the bouts, the event would also be used to expose guests from different parts of the world, especially the U. S. to Nigerian arts and culture.

“The night will be a wonderful event to happen to Nigerians and the country as a whole because for some time now, many other sports have been neglected,’’ Arinze Aghaeliaku, the promoter added. .

The promoter, who said he would not reveal the amount involved in bankrolling the fight, said what was uppermost in his mind was to provide an opportunity for the Nigerian wrestler to defend his title before his countrymen.

“I can tell you that I am using the show to portray the good side of Nigeria to the world at large. It is not just about associating Nigeria with crimes, but about cultural re-awakening, which the fight is meant to project.’’

Tee Mac Istesli said the event would expose Nigeria’s positive side to the outside world.

A Nigeria Wrestling Federation (NWB of C), Secretary, Ralph Nwofor, said a high tech 2011 (19X19 metre) — World Wrestling Federation approved ring was already on its way to Nigeria for the event.

“This is the latest ring in world wrestling,” Nwofor said.

Wrestlers expected to feature in the tag team fights include: Marty Wright (The Boogyman), Anthony Mayweather (Crimson), Cliff Treiber (Domino) and Troy Martin (The Franchise Shane Douglas).

Other are Jason Adams, David Njo Matike From Ghana, Jay Batista and Eric Milford, Sione Vailahi (the Barbarian), Junior Fatu (Rikishi) and Kevin Sullivan.

On his readiness for the fight, De Ultimate Commander said:  “I have never lost any fight, so it is going to be a great motivation for me to have Nigerians watch and retain my title in the country.”

“I will go for a knock out if President Goodluck Jonathan will honour me with his presence at the fight,’’ he said.
