Nigeria@63: Envoy celebrates Independence anniversary with students in Cuba

Amb. Benaoyagha Okoyen, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the Republic of Cuba, on Sunday celebrated the 63rd Independence Anniversary with students in Havana, Cuba.

Okoyen hosted the Nigerian students, mainly medical students in Cuba to lunch, for the Independence Day celebration at his residence.

A statement from the Nigeria Embassy in Havana stated that the Ambassador, in his speech, congratulated the students on their successes and exceptional good conduct.

Okoyen advised the students to keep up the high standards and remain hopeful for better days ahead in Nigeria’s advancement.

He also called for their contribution to nation building as leaders in the new Nigerian nation.

The main highlight of the celebration was cutting of the Independence Anniversary cake and the Ambassador’s interaction with the students on several issues bothering on Nigeria and Cuba bilateral relations, particularly on medical services.

The Nigerian students, who were very grateful to celebrate Nigeria’s 63rd Independence with the members of staff of the Embassy commended Ambassador Okoyen and staff for the invitation.

They also praised the Ambassador for his humility and good leadership skills in managing the Nigerian/Cuban bilateral relations.
