aminu_tambuwalThe Speaker, House of Representatives, Hon. Aminu Tambuwal, on Friday said the Federal Government was making efforts to ensure that Nigeria remained a united and progressive nation.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Press Secretary to National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mr Paul Odenyi, in Abuja.

Tambuwal, Chairman at the Youth Harvest Dinner of the Church of the Assumption, Abuja, said: “ Nigerians are determined to live together as brothers and sisters despite efforts by some to divide the country.”

According to the statement, the Speaker commends Nigerian youths for taking greater interest in the way they are governed.

Tambuwal described the youth of the country as champions of religious unity in the country through the gesture of the Youth Fellowship of the church towards him.

Also speaking, Mr Mike Omeri, the Director-General, National Orientation Agency (NOA), urged Nigerian youths to emulate the virtues of the speaker, whom he described as a man of peace.

According to him, Tambuwal is an icon of peace and unity in the country.

Omeri noted that the speaker had great respect for the youth and was contributing immensely toward the improvement of the youth using his position as the speaker.

In a brief address, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja Diocese, John Onaiyekan, admonished Nigerians to see religious differences as mere diversities of angles toward achieving one strong, united nation.
