The League Management Company (LMC) has announced that the winners of this season’s league would smile away with a much-improved cumulative sum of N80 million, LMC chairman, Shehu Dikko, said.
Dikko declared: “The winners of the league would be going home with as much as N80 million at the end of the season. This is well above 200 per cent increase from what is presently obtainable.
“We have ensured a system that the clubs get regular release of funds due to them from the LMC and by the end of the season, the club who win the league would have got a cumulative of both cash and kind worth N80 million, while the team who are relegated would get about N55 million.
“The winners of the league on final day of action will pocket N30 million and you know what that means. You would agree with me that the incentives we have introduced are already making impact.
“We give teams who get away win N250,000, away draw N100,000 and even reward teams for fans turnout. Today, you can see teams are winning matches away from home and I am sure more would come.”
This season, the Nigeria premier league has already recorded five away wins in the last two rounds of matches with Enyimba, Giwa, Wikki Tourists, Heartland and Abia Warriors all taking maximum points on the road.
