The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, has arraigned a 65-year-old woman, Fatima Ilori, before the Federal High Court in Ibadan over alleged trafficking of a large quantity of cannabis.
The defendant is accused of unlawful possession and distribution of 238.5 kilograms of Cannabis Sativa.
Ilori, popularly known as “Iya-Kerosine,” pleaded not guilty to the one-count charge of illegal drug dealing brought against her.
Following her plea, the presiding judge, Justice Agomoh, ordered that she be remanded at the Agodi Correctional Facility pending further proceedings.
The court also adjourned the case until June 26, 2026, for hearing of the bail application.
During the proceedings, the prosecuting counsel, Mrs A. A. Balogun, told the court that the alleged offence occurred on December 11, 2025, in the Idioro-Elekuro area of Ibadan, Oyo State.
She explained that NDLEA operatives acted on intelligence provided by informants who reported suspected illicit drug activity linked to the defendant.
According to the prosecution, officers arrested Ilori in possession of a large consignment of dried cannabis weighing 238.5kg.
The prosecution stated that the alleged offence violates Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The agency reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying the fight against drug trafficking and other related offences across Oyo State and Nigeria at large.
The case adds to ongoing efforts by the NDLEA to curb narcotics distribution networks in Nigeria, particularly in urban and rural communities where drug trafficking remains a concern.
Authorities say enforcement operations and intelligence-led raids will continue as part of national drug control strategies.
