NCPC seeks support to sponsor rescued Chibok girls on pilgrimage

Executive Secretary, Nigeria Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Tor Uja, has called for support from stakeholders to sponsor the recently rescued Chibok girls on pilgrimage.
Uja made the call on Tuesday in Abuja when he visited the Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Mr Bayo Onanuga.
He said the call to sponsor the girls on pilgrimage was to enable them have time away from the environment for prayers and reflection.
“I will like to call on stakeholders to send and sponsor the just released Chibok girls on pilgrimage as part of their rehabilitation.
“Let them have time to see other things that are healthy, coming from the trauma they went through, and coming back with so much media attention,” he said.
“In the years to come, we can sit back and celebrate that Nigeria went through struggles but has stabilised and pushing forward.
“I believe that with the efforts of all Nigerians, Nigeria will end up being one of the reference points in the global economies and global affairs. The media should give attention to the great things that are happening in Nigeria”.
Uja called on Nigerian media to focus more on positive developments in the country, adding that good things were happening in spite of the current economic challenges facing the country.
He said the positive developments had been responsible for building and keeping Nigeria as well as channelling its paths to the way forward.
Uja said plans were ongoing to introduce a new package of pilgrimage, adding that attention would be given to youths, women and leaders.
He said that the commission would not give up the general pilgrimage for those who may not immediately fall into the above categories.
According to him, the commission runs different kinds of pilgrimages a year, pilgrimages for youths during Easter holiday, family pilgrimage in August and the general pilgrimage.
In his remark, Onanuga commended the NCPC boss for the visit and assured that NAN would continue to use its platform to ensure that positive developments were given more attention.
He promised that NAN would also use its platform to draw the attention of Nigerians to support the released of the remaining Chibok girls.
