N13.6bn alleged fraud: Court grants bail to Dasuki, others

Dasukigate: Court revokes Obadina’s bail over N2.4bn scam

An Abuja High Court on Friday granted bail to the former National Security Adviser (NSA) , Colonel Sambo Dasuki (rtd) and others standing trial over alleged N13.6 billion fraud.
The other defendants granted bail were: the erstwhile Director of Finance in the Office of the NSA, Mr. Shuaibu Salisu, former Executive Director of the Nigeria National Petroleum Commission ( NNPC), ‎Aminu Baba-Kusa.
They were charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), alongside Acacia Holding Limited and Reliance Referral Hospital Limited, belonging to Baba-Kusa.
In a ruling, Justice Husseni Baba-Yusuf held that: “having examined the applications from the defendants counsel and the counter affidavits from the prosecution, I hereby granted bail to the entire accused persons.
“ The offence they are charged with is bailable in accordance with the provisions of Section162 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015.’’
“The defendants are therefore granted bail in the sum of N250million each and a surety each in like sum.
“The surety must be a civil servant of not less than the rank of a director.
“The surety must own a property in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) valued not less than N150million and must deposit his international passport with the court,’’ he said.
The judge adjourned the matter till January 21 for continuation of trial.
The EFCC had arraigned the defendants over a fresh 19-count-charge.
‎They were alleged to have illegally diverted over N13.6 billion from security fund.
