etisalat_logoFastest growing telecommunications company, Etisalat Nigeria has expressed satisfaction with the increased interest and enquiries made by customers and prospects on the ongoing Mobile Number Portability which kicked off a few weeks ago.

Etisalat claims that current statistics from the Nigerian Communications Commission on MNP which shows that the number of subscribers who have switched over to its network surpasses those that have left.

This disclosure was made by the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Mr. Steven Evans during a media roundtable held at Radison Blu last Thursday June 6, 2013.

Giving reasons for this trend, Evans pointed out that subscribers are porting to Etisalat Nigeria because of their desire to experience better quality of service, having recognized that the Etisalat network is the best in the delivery of quality service in the country.

“The Nigerian consumer is very discerning. They know what they want, and they go for it. They want quality of service in terms of clear voice and high speed data. They also want quality service at reasonable price, good customer care support and innovative products, and these are what we are known to deliver,” he said.

Evans went further to reveal the May 2013 results of the QoS KPIs set by the NCC to the media. The NCC had set KPI’s for Call Set Success Rate (CSSR) at a minimum of 95%, Call Drop Rate (DCR) at 2% maximum, Traffic Channel Congestion (TCHcong) 1% maximum and Stand Alone Dedicated Control Channel Congestion (SDCHcong) at 2% maximum.

The report showed that Etisalat not only met all the KPIs, but had surpassed them all, recording between 98% and 99% on CSSR, 1.01% on DCR, 0.48% on TCHCong and 0.93% on SDCHcong.

“What this means is that we are offering quality service as required by the regulator. We have about four promos running at the moment, and these have not affected our quality of service in any way. This shows that we have the capacity not only to give our customers value with our promotions but also a reliable network to meet their communication needs,” he pointed out.

Evans further disclosed plans by the network to invest an additional $500 million for building and expanding its network this year to accommodate the growing number of subscribers that are porting to its network.

He said that Etisalat has made significant investments towards the expansion of its network capacity improving the quality of service it provides for customers.

“Part of the reason why we went into a $1.2bn loan signing deal two weeks ago was to expand our network and boost our capacity to be able to accommodate growth plans and maintain the highest service quality. You are aware that MNP allows GSM subscribers to switch to another network while retaining their mobile numbers and we are fully ready to welcome more subscribers to our network to enjoy our bouquet of innovative products and services.” he concluded.
