Mayweather gets January ending deadline on $300m Pacquiao fight

Manny Pacquiao has set Floyd Mayweather a deadline to agree terms for the pair’s potential superfight.
The Filipino has given the pound-for-pound king until the end of the month, insisting that he and his camp will agree to whatever the American demands.
“My promoter and I, we’ve already agreed to the terms and conditions of whatever he wants,” Pacquiao said. “We’re just waiting on the signed contract from him. I don’t have an idea if it will happen.
“We just want to make that fight happen – for the sake of the fans, for the sake of the millions of people around the world who are excited to see that fight.
“I just want to prove who’s really No 1. If the fight is on and he beats me, I’m really convinced he is No 1. If not, I’m No 1.”
The size of the potential scrap is illustrated by the fact both HBO and Showtime have agreed to jointly broadcast it, the first time they have done so since Lennox Lewis boxed Mike Tyson in 2002
Sam Watson, who works for Mayweather’s advisor Al Haymon, indicated just last week that they were close to agreeing the fight from their end.
“They’re working on the monies now and everything they’ve got to work on to make it happen,” he said.
“I can’t wait. It’s going to be huge.”
If the fight doesn’t get signed off by the end of this month, both men will be a target for Bolton scrapper Amir Khan.
