Mayweather buys world’s most expensive car

Floyd “Money” Mayweather is making ostentatious purchases again.
Despite raking in some $300 million this year, making him far and away the world’s highest-paid athlete, Mayweather went the Cars.com route a few months back, when he parted ways with his ultra-rare Ferrari for a shade under $4 million to pave the way for an upgrade.
While he intended on turning his profits into a couple of puppies, he instead settled for a Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita, which sounds like a fancy espresso machine but is actually one of – if not the-rarest car on the planet.
In other words, it’s the perfect purchase for a man who’s constantly on the prowl for a good old-fashioned pissing contest.
Unlike his former Ferrari Enzo, which was previously owned by the Sheikh of Abu Dhabi, Mayweather is one of two people on the planet to own a CCXR Trevita. You can read all the ridiculous particulars here – like how “Trevita” is Swedish for “three whites” or that the car comes coated in a custom carbon fiber “that shines like millions of diamonds” when the sun hits it – but all you really need to know is it tops out at 254 miles per hour and goes from 0 to 60 in 2.9 seconds. It’s practically a bullet, and one you won’t see on U.S. soil unless you happen to cross paths with Mayweather.

The catch, and the reason you shouldn’t get too attached to its sleek look: At $4.8 million, it’s the most expensive car in the world. That hugging contest with Manny Pacquiao sure paid off.
