AS the crisis in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deepens,  Senate President, Senator David Mark, on Tuesday, flew into Minna, the Niger State capital, to hold secret meetings with some elders of the party and traditional rulers in the North-Central state.

Prominent among the elders are two former Heads of State, Generals Ibrahim Babangida and Abdulsalami Abubakar.

The Senate President, who flew into Minna in a chartered jet at about 11:45am, drove straight from the Minna Airport to the Uphill mansion of General Babangida where he had about 30 minutes closed-door meeting with the former military president.

No journalist was allowed into the premises while the meeting lasted.

Mark, who was accompanied on the trip by the two PDP Senators from the state, Senator Zainab Kure and Senator Dahiru Awaisu Kuta, and some senators, later drove to the palace of the Etsu Nupe and Chairman, Niger State Council of Chiefs, Dr. Yahaya Abubakar, where they also held a close door meeting with the monarch.

The Senate President later met Governor Muazu Babangida Aliyu and some retired Generals privately.
