Man arrested for allegedly defiling wife’s cousin in Ogun

Rape

Three years after he defiled an eight year old minor (name withheld) in Ajegunle area of Lagos State, a 50-year-old man, Okechukwu Onyeakazi, has been sentenced to a 50-year jail term by an Ikeja High Court.

The Lagos State Special Offences Court, Ikeja presided by Justice Sybil Nwaka-Gbagi delivered the Judgement in the case No.ID/3901C/2017 between the State of Lagos vs Okechukwu Onyeakazi.

The convict had earlier pleaded guilty to the one count charge preferred against him by the state.

Following his plea of guilty, the court had sentenced him to imprisonment without option of fine.

Onyeakazi was reportedly “defiled the minor by putting his fingers into her bumbum and also inserted his penis into her vagina on a different occasion.”

The one – count charge of defilement brought against him contravenes the Criminal Justice Law of Lagos State 2019.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Adebayo Haroun, had told the court during the trial that the convict committed the offence in 2017 at Shogunle, area of Lagos State.

Haroun, however, urged the court to sentence the defendant accordingly having found him guilty of the charges against him.

Delivering judgement on the case, Justice S. Nwaka held that the evidences and the two witnesses presented before the court by the prosecution were tenable and found the convict guilty as charged.
