Man in court for allegedly stealing N2.8m tricycle

The defendant, who resides at Agbado Crossing area of Ogun State, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.

The prosecutor, ASP Racheal Williams, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 4, 2024 at Ogba, Lagos.

Williams said that the defendant was given a tricycle on a hire-purchase agreement by the complainant, Mr Taiwo Lawal.

She said that days later, the defendant did not get back to the complainant and every efforts to locate him failed as he had packed out of his house, while his cell phone was switched off.

The prosecutor said that the tricycle was valued at N2.8 million.

“The defendant was later arrested in his hideout,” she said.

According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr A. J. Odueke granted the defendant N500,000 bail with two sureties in like sum.

Odueke adjourned the case until July 31, for mention.
