English champions Manchester City will once again face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 following Friday’s draw in Nyon, Switzerland.

The clash marks their sixth knockout-stage encounter since the 2019/2020 season, further cementing a modern European rivalry. City claimed a 2-1 victory over the 15-time European champions during their group-stage meeting in December, adding extra intrigue to what many fans consider a final-worthy matchup.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain have been paired with Chelsea, renewing tensions after their intense FIFA Club World Cup final showdown last season, which the London side won.

Premier League leaders Arsenal will take on German side Bayer Leverkusen after an impressive league-phase campaign that saw them win all eight matches to finish top.

Elsewhere, Bayern Munich face Italian outfit Atalanta, who advanced dramatically after eliminating Borussia Dortmund in the playoffs.

Other standout ties include:

Newcastle United vs Barcelona

Liverpool vs Galatasaray

Tottenham Hotspur vs Atletico Madrid

Bodo/Glimt vs Sporting CP

Quarter-Final Pathways

The bracket has also mapped out potential heavyweight encounters in the last eight:

QF1: PSG/Chelsea vs Galatasaray/Liverpool

QF2:  Real Madrid/Man City vs Atalanta/Bayern

QF3: Newcastle/Barcelona vs Atletico/Tottenham

QF4: Bodo/Glimt/Sporting vs Leverkusen/Arsenal

Semi-Final Outlook

* Semi-final 1: Winners of QF1 vs Winners of QF2

* Semi-final 2: Winners of QF3 vs Winners of QF4

With Europe’s elite clubs set on a collision course, the road to Champions League glory promises high-stakes drama and blockbuster matchups in the months ahead.
