Maku: I don’t need political structures to win Nasarawa governorship seat

Former Information Minister and All Progressives Grand Alliance’s (APGA) governorship candidate for Nasarawa State, Mr Labaran Maku, on Thursday, urged the electorate to protect their votes on Saturday.
He also accused the All Progressives Congress (APC) of planning to rig the election.
Maku, who spoke at Wakama in Nassarawa-Eggon, urged voters to stay after casting their votes.
According to him, voters must stay behind and ensure that their votes are correctly counted and entered into the result sheet before leaving.
“While staying, conduct yourselves in an orderly manner in accordance with the provisions of the law. After casting your votes, you will stay some distance away from the polling unit with party agents to protect your votes. Please maintain peace during and after casting your votes and throughout the voting process’’, he added.
Maku accused the APC-led government in the state of planning to rig the elections.
According to him, the government has often boasted of having control over the security agencies and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He also said that APGA was aware of the plans by APC in the state to use fake security men in order to intimidate and scare voters away from areas controlled by APGA and called on the leadership of the agencies to be on the alert.
“The ultimate aim of APC is to sponsor violence and scare people away from polling units in order to rig elections in their favour’’, he said.
He, therefore, called on INEC and law enforcement agencies to investigate and get rid of those planning to unleash terror on the law abiding people of the state.
